UNITY SAMBA - Aug 2nd 2006 On the 2nd of August 2006 almost 900 Girl Guides had the opportunity to work with some of the artists that made the Planet Sound carnival back in July of this year such a success. As part of the international girl guides annual convention, which was held at Shugborough Hall, Planet Sound arranged a samba project for a day. There were three main workshops that ran throughout the whole day: samba dance which was led by Romero and Marianna, percussion which was led by Bosco de Oliveira and Carlos and costume making. The majority of participants also spent time learning the Girl Guides samba song. At the end of the day all the groups came together to parade through the camp site and in spite of the rain performed their dance, percussion and song all in colourful carnival costume. The experience will hopefully inspire many of the Girl Guides to take part in the Planet Sound carnival parades in the summer of 2007.
