ARCHIVE PLANET SOUND ARTIST TRAINING COURSE March 21st - 25th 2005 From March 21st-25th 2005, Planet Sound Community Arts conducted its first Artist training course at Cartwright House, The Mitchell Memorial Theatre. Aimed at experienced artists wishing to establish community projects and funded by the Arts Council, the course examined a range of issues relating to running a community arts project from creative visualisation, initial planning and focusing methods through to evaluation concepts and practices. Artists were encouraged to think about the community art concept, and how they could apply themselves to various community settings with their own artforms. Each session an artist conducted a group warm up or focusing exercise, and NBT training was brought in to assist each artist in developing their vision for a project. Practical "day to day" running advice was also made available, and the course with artists doing a presentation to a mock funding trust. In total six artists completed the training course, each with a completed project proposal for their particular artform and chosen community group. A further project phase is planned that will consist of regular contact time to develop and establish the ideas that came from this phase of the training. For more information, click here to email us.
