WIDER OPPORTUNITES SHOWCASE Featuring Tamworth Schools - Feb 10th 2004 On 10th Feb 2004, a Wider Opportunities showcase was held, featuring performances from several schools involved in the initiative. The Wider Opportunities project aimed to bring new opportunities to young people, where none currently exist. Planet Sound Community Arts conducted an initial workshop series in several Tamworth primary schools as part of the Wider Opportunities project from Sept-Nov 2003. From these sessions performance pieces were developed and brought to the performance as part of the programme. The performances included a mixture of djembes, dun duns, singing and movement, and the pupils got a chance to perform to an appreciative audience. The performances were varied and showed what could be achieved by giving new opportunities to young people. Planet Sound Community Arts would like to say a big "WELL DONE" to all the pupils taking part!! The evening ended with a speech from the iniative co-ordinator Leslie Moran, and the welcome news that a phase 2 of the project had been approved and scheduled for Autumn terms of 2004.
