| NEWS ARCHIVE MAKE SOME NOISE SHOWCASE BIRMINGHAM SYMPHONY HALL - Nov 2002 On Nov 17th 2002, the Youth Music Action Zone Make Some Noise held a showcase event at the Birmingham Symphony Hall. The aim of this event was to showcase all the work done over the initial phase of the action zone. For the event, Planet Sound Community Arts brought together several of it's key projects including Madula, Chesterton's Banjomanjo, Sound Element from Bentilee and the Planet Sound Drum School. Throughout the day, the groups performed individually in various locations around the Symphony Hall, coming together for the main event inside the 2,000 capacity auditorium. The piece was composed and rehearsed in the weeks leading up to the event and featured all four groups onstage at the same time. Each group played an individual section and motif for the piece, and joined together for the main "MAKE SOME NOISE" break to end in an energetic fashion. Leaving the stage to enthusiastic applause, the groups returned for the grand finale to play with members of the Manchester Camerata, providing percussion and motifs for the piece. Working with a conductor for the first time, the groups contributed a steady and energetic beat. The event finished with all groups involved in the showcase joining together to sing the main chorus lines. Many thanks to everyone involved for all their hard work in making this showcase come together. To view photographs from the event, click here. |
