FUSION FESTIVAL - HANLEY PARK 3rd SEPT 2006
On 3rd Sept 2006, Planet Sound Community Arts ran a day long programme as part of the Fusion Festival 2006.

Held in Hanley Park, the workshop programme invited all people at the festival to join in and experience both African and Brazilian percussion based music.

From 11am - 2pm Master African drummer Jahman Sillah conducted a workshop at the Planet Sound space.
The workshop involved material from Jahmans tradition in the Gambia, and members were encouraged to learn and put their own rhythms into the piece.
The workshop ended with a performance to the gathering crowds.
From 2-5pm Felix Gibbons conducted a samba workshop, which grew in number as the day went on, with more samba breaks and rhythms added as more people joined in.
The workshop group paraded into the main marquee and audience members followed to watch the final performance.

THe Fusion Festival is a free event organised by the City Council's Arts and Events team, and is currently in its 6th year of activity.
