CARNIVAL PROGRAMME 2004
Churrasco, Hanley Apr 21st 2004
Planet Sound Community Arts hosted a presentation night at Churrascos, Hanley on Wed 21st April 2004.

The presentation featured a video documentary of the visit made by Joe Wilson, Amy Parry and Helen Morris to a Samba School in Brazil, entitled "Carnival First Hand".
You can read more about the project, and view the video online by clicking here.

Members of the audience were invited to make donations to help cover the cost of an internet connection for the Samba school visited in Sao Paulo.
Planet Sound Community Arts will be donating a computer to the Samba school to enable regular communication between artists in the North Staffs and the artists in Sao Paulo.

The evening also featured the first public performance of the 2004 Samba piece, due to be paraded at Newcastle Carnival in May 2004.
Leaflets containing the lyrics were handed out to the audience, and the piece was performed several times, with the audience joining in and singing the lyrics to the song.

Planet Sound Community Arts are looking for as many people to join in our Carnival Parade as possible.
The parade will involve drumming, dancing, singing and costume.
The heart and soul of the piece is the song first played at Churrascos. To get the lyrics click here.
