CHINA AUDITIONS - 14th Dec 2004 On Tues 14th Dec 2004, the CHINA project held auditions for its forthcoming phase at the Orme Centre, Newcastle Under Lyme. The day covered Visual arts, music, dance & drama with candidates being auditioned in one of the four art forms. The primary criteria examined were participants’ enthusiasm and commitment, which were assessed through workshops and discussion with individuals and their carers. At present a timetable is being drawn up for the rehearsals and development of the new piece. There were also artform specific criteria, which participants needed to meet. A second round of auditions has been proposed, with the performance scheduled for April 2005. The second phase of CHINA is currently being funded by CHOICES housing association, and is waiting for confirmation from Craegmoor Care and Community Chest.
