| ARCHIVE BBC WORLD MUSIC DAY NEW VICTORIA THEATRE 16th MAY 2003 On Friday 16th May 2003, Planet Sound Community Arts performed as part of a showcase event for the BBC World Music Day at the New Victoria Theatre, Stoke On Trent. Organised by the BBC as a showcase for World Music in the area, the day featured projects from Planet Sound Community Arts including the Planet Sound Drum School, Madula and Berry Hill High School alongside projects from Beavers Arts. Workshops and performances took place throughout the day in addition to interviews with Planet Sound Community Arts and project participants. Performances were held in the main auditorium and were broadcast live on BBC Radio Stoke, with highlights being broadcast on BBC Radio 3 throughout the day. The Planet Sound Drumschool performed at midday, and Madula performed at 2pm, which also featured live links on air with Brazil. Public workshops were held in function rooms of the Theatre and were filmed by the BBC Midlands Today team, and were shown as part of the news features on BBC television. At the end of the day, BBC Radio Stoke broadcast a live "grand finale" featuring all projects performing together in the main auditorim, led by the Zimbabwe singers and the Boat Band with everyone else singing in harmony and providing percussion.
