On 5th Feb, Kasanti together with the Planet Sound Drumschool opened the Celebration of Cultural Diversity event at the Kings Hall, Stoke On Trent.

Access All Areas "Looked after Children recording"
Feb 14th 2008
During the February half term, the group worked with Planet Sound to record one of their performance tracks.
The session took place at the Planet Sound premises, Mitchell Memorial Theatre, and the group began by doing various takes of the tune singing accapella.

SPECTRUMS OF SOUND SHOWCASE NOV 26th 2007
On 26th Nov 2007, Planet Sound staged the annual "Spectrums of Sound" at the Victoria Hall, Hanley.
With extra seating being added to the venue to accomodate the demand for tickets, and with over 160 performers involved in the show from all across the North Staffs, Spectrums of Sound 2007 was the biggest and best attended showcase to date!!

BROWNHILLS SAMBA AT CITY CENTRE XMAS LIGHTS 15th November 2007
A group from Brownhills were given their first Samba performance opportunity as part of the City Centre Christmas Lights parade.
The group spent the day working with Felix Gibbons,learning samba breaks, the culture of samba in Brazil, and members of the group chose instruments for the parade in the evening.

CHINA Theatre Company - 24th Oct 2007
Around 25 people turned up for CHINA theatre companies Workshop day as part of the Mitchell Memorial Celebrations. The group was made up of adults with learning disabilities and support staff.

MITCHELL CELEBRATIONS 2007- DRUMSCHOOL SHOWCASE OCT 22nd 2007
On Mon 22nd October 2007, the Mitchell Memorial Theatre hosted a Planet Sound drumming event as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations.
Free open Workshops for young people were provided throughout the day as part of the event, and in the evening the drumschool alongside other acts performed to a full Theatre.

MITCHELL CELEBRATIONS 2007: Carnival- Oct 6th and 7th 2007
On 6th and 7th October 2007, Planet Sound Community Arts hosted a "Carnival weekend" as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Mitchell Memorial Theatre.
Based onstage for the weekend, participants were invited from all across the city to experience elements of the Carnival project.

CREWE CARNIVAL 2007 Aug 20th-25th 2007
For Crewe Carnival 2007, Planet Sound Artists and The Cultural Sisters worked in Partnership with Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council to create a new Samba group with the aim of performing in Crewe’s annual carnival parade.

On Sat the 18th Aug 2007, the St.Lukes drumming group "Kasanti" joined members of the Planet Sound Drumschool to provide pre-match entertainment at the Britannia Stadium for the Stoke City fans.

WORK EXPERIENCE 2007 July 2nd-13th 2007
The 2007 Work Experience Programme took place between 2nd and 13th July and gave placements to 7 young people from across the North Staffs area.

POISONOUS POETS "BE AN ICON"
The ‘Poisonous Poets’ are a group of young men who have explored music production, lyric writing and performance techniques. In 2007 they worked with Planet Sound to produce the track "Be an Icon"

CHINA Theatre Company’s third production, ‘Cogito Ergo Sum’ was staged as a matinee and evening performance at Venue 4 on Tuesday 3rd April 2007

The film ‘Goodbye Zoe’ was created with a group of young people from ‘Positive Steps’ looked after young people’s project in Blurton with a Planet Sound team, supported by Stoke on Trent Cultural Development Team.

DRUMSCHOOL SHOWCASE 2007
On Wed 21st March 2007, the first ever Planet Sound Drumschool showcase took place at the Full Moon music venue, Newcastle Under Lyme.
The event festured five different groups, each playing several songs for the biggest audience the Full Moon has seen.

SPECTRUMS OF SOUND 2006
On 28th November 2006, a capacity crowd filled the Victoria Hall, Hanley to see the 2006 Spectrums of Sound event.
The event consisted of over 150 performers from the community who each performed as part of a particular group to produce a varied and entertaining show.

FUSION FESTIVAL - HANLEY PARK 3rd SEPT 2006 On 3rd Sept 2006, Planet Sound Community Arts ran a day long programme as part of the Fusion Festival 2006.
Held in Hanley Park, the workshop programme invited all people at the festival to join in and experience both African and Brazilian percussion based music.

ACCESS ALL AREAS - Y-O-T sessions,
Stanley Head Aug 2006 As part of Access All Areas 2006, Planet Sound worked groups from the Y-O-T team on the and 26th and 31st Aug 2006, with participants attending a full day of workshops each time, with each group aiming to write material for use in a future performance.

UNITY SAMBA - Aug 2nd 2006 On the 2nd of August 2006 almost 900 Girl Guides had the opportunity to work with some of the artists that made the Planet Sound carnival back in July of this year such a success.

Summer 2006 - City Centre Carnival a success! On July 1st the 2006 People of Stoke On Trent were treated to a day of entertainment provided by groups from the community taking part in the 2006 Planet Sound Carnival programme.
This was second City Centre carnival, and built on work done as part of the 2005 programme.

Spectrums of Sound 2005
On Monday the 28th of November 2005, The Victoria Hall played host to the Planet Sound feature show, "Spectrums of Sound".
Hosted by local favourite Sam Plank, the event was a celebration of all the work done by Planet Sound Community Arts, and the biggest showcase event to date.

Access All Areas - Summer 2005 After three successful years, Planet Sound Community Arts carried out Access All Areas 2005 throughout August and September. Internationally acclaimed artists were introduced to the project and worked alongside the core team of artists from Planet Sound.

Drumschool - Summer 2005 The first "Intermediate" level of drumschool was conducted from 17th April to 26th June 2005.
Funded by the NDLC,participants were introduced to a variety of musical concepts from resting on the beat to interlocking rhythms, learning all of the parts that make up a piece of drumming music.

Access All Areas - Biddulph, June 2005 The Access All Areas project continued throughout June and July 2005 at the Biddulph Youth Centre.
Over a series of five workshops the young people of Biddulph Youth Centre worked on African drumming, Music Technology, DJing, guitar and vocal skills to produce their own song based on the theme of "power".

ON 29th and 30th June the CHINA project held followed its successful 2004 production of "You'll never do anything dear" with its second production entitled "Princess in Boots : A tale of Power and Prejudice".

STOKE ON TRENT CITY CARNIVAL 2005 -
HANLEY 25th June 2005
On 25th June 2005, Planet Sound Community Arts conducted the first Stoke On Trent Citywide Carnival parade through the streets of Hanley.
the parade troupe performed the piece "A paz no Planeta Reina Agora"(peace reigns on the planet) to the crowds in their specially designed costume provided by the Cultural Sisters.
2005 marked the biggest parade troupe yet, with over 200 people involved in all sections of the performance.

NEWCASTLE CARNIVAL - MAY 2005 On 30th May 2005, Planet Sound Community Arts took part in the 2005 Newcastle Carnival Grand Parade.
Listed at the "best thing in the carnival" by the local media, the parade troupe performed the piece "A paz no Planeta Reina Agora"(peace reigns on the planet) to the 40,000 crowd in their specially designed costume provided by the Cultural Sisters.
