The piece was performed in the informal setting of Shelton Day services and aimed at creating the atmosphere of a bedtime story with the production questioning people's views of beauty and how those views affect everyone. The production was performed to a capacity audience on both nights, and featured heavily in the local media outlets as a positive project for people with learning disabilities. Initial feedback from the audience members has been very encouraging and collection of feedback will continue throughout the summer of 2005. All material involved in CHINA was created by the participants themselves who are also responsible for all the aspects of running the theatre company. The production consisted of dance, drama, music and visual arts elements brought together over the series of workshops for the 2005 term. CHINA is currently funded by Choices Housing Association, Grace Jeffries, Community Chest and the NDLC. You can view the CHINA website by clicking here. |
