ARCHIVE | ChInA Performance "You'll never do anything dear" Mitchell Memorial Theatre, 30th July 2004 On 30th July 2004, the ChInA theatre company staged its first performance piece at the Mitchell Memorial Theatre, Hanley. The show entitled "You'll never do anything dear", featured the groups real life experiences of how and why they felt they were bullied due to their individual disability, and these ideas were explored to make the performance. The performance featured several elements including a dance and drama group providing visuals and movement, a music group providing the music and poetry and a backstage group that had made props and scenery. The show also featured the education piece "SSshhh!" by the Frontline Dance company as part of their Include2 project, and a movement piece from the "Breakthro" project. Frontline Dance is an integrated dance company based in Stoke On Trent, offering a range of dance performance and workshops in the area. The ChInA (Change in Attitudes) project has been running every Tuesday at the Mitchell Memorial Theatre since 23rd September 2003. Funded initially by the Millenium Awards, Community Champions and the Local Network Fund, the project aims to change attitudes towards disability and works with participants aged between 16-25 with a range of special education needs. In April 2004, further funding was provided by the Craigmoor Care group. This funding enabled the project to run for another ten sessions and and produce a public performance.
